1. How are you doing buddy?
Not well. My style just got stolen by 200 kids born after 1990 and it's frustrating. I'm quitting tomorrow.
2. Who are you?
My name is Kwistax, I'm actually a graphic designer. I've always been into music, but it's only been since recently that people understand what i'm trying to do. I'm working on several projects at the moment, but what I prefer is the contact with my audience. Being a Dj is a very fullfilling job and allows me to travel quite a bit.
3. Why 'Kwistax' ?
Beause Nanni-k was causing to much competition with Daddy-k, and in Belgium he's still pretty celebrated! I decided to change my name because people tend to judge me because of my past as a Hip-hop artist.
4. What about Freaks and Geeks?
Kid Strike, DJ Slow and myself recently launched this party concept. For a year we've been managing to fill the Cafe Bota in Brussels thanks to out great flyers! Since september we're booking 1 more DJ each time in order to show our favorite artists to our audience.
5. How did it feel in front of the masses at Dour Festival ?
Dour is a great experience as a DJ. My good friend Lefto hooked me up to do the closing of his tent in back2back with him. We had good fun making each other discover our songs live in front of thousands of people... but most important: the audience loved it!
6. DJ'ing or Producing?
I'm really into djing which doesn't leave me with much time for producing. I sometimes play my own edits but that's pretty much it. I contributed to a lot of obscure projects here and there but I don't really have my own sound identity to put it that way.
7. Belgium vs France , and the winner is ... ?
My grand-mother actually complains that I don't come see her enough in France and its true! I love France, but Belgium really adopted me, and I don't know any city where people can party as they do in Brussels!
8. How does the futur look like for you?
Right now I'm trying to push djing to the extreme to see where it will take me while trying to work with different groups to achieve a maximum amount of input. I'm constantly working and sharing ideas with artists, stylists, photographers or video directors. I believe that so many people have talent but it's important to talk to the right person at the right time. I'm also trying to come back to Luxembourg to play at parties like Ultrasocial or Extrabold as much as I can, it motives me and brings me back to my roots.
9. Track of the moment :
Twist It! - Funky Monkey
10. Love Kwistax because...
... he gives you what you need!
